Portland Opera's mission is to inspire, challenge and uplift our audiences by creating productions of high artistic quality that celebrate the beauty and breadth of opera. We share music with more than 350,000 individuals and 70 schools and communities throughout the Northwest. Each season our programming includes a full complement of locally produced mainstage opera masterpieces, innovative new productions, and an intimate chamber opera featuring some of the best up-and-coming opera stars.
Vanessa Isiguen, soprano
American soprano, Vanessa Isiguen is originally from Charlotte, North Carolina and now resides in Portland, Oregon. Vanessa made her Florida Grand Opera debut in the title role in Puccini's Madama Butterfly in 2014 to rave reviews. She was subsequently invited as a soloist to the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London where she performed the beloved aria “Un bel dÌ vedremo" on a lecture concert with Maestro Nicola Luisotti for the Insights Program on Madama Butterfly. Vanessa was featured in a workshop with The Metropolitan Opera for The Sorrows of Frederick by composer Scott Wheeler, and soon after sang the role of Beatrice Russo in the New York City premiere of Daniel Catan's 'Il Postino'.
In 2014, Vanessa performed the role of Roberta Alden in An American Tragedy with Glimmerglass Opera. She worked closely with composer Tobias Picker, librettist Gene Scheer, director Peter Kazaras and conductor George Manahan on this revised version.
During the 2015-16 Season at Sarasota Opera she sang Mimì in La Bohème, Marzelline in Beethoven’s Fidelio and also covered Despina in Mozart’s Così fan tutte.
