Dear Symphony Friend,

We're almost there! So far this season the Oregon Symphony has received almost $1.4 million in new or increased contributions from more than 2,200 donors, putting us within reach of raising $2 million in increased or new monies by June 30, 2006. When added to the incredible success of last season—the first in a three-year challenge grant from the James F. and Marion L. Miller Foundation—the momentum makes us confident that we will achieve sufficient funding to fully support our great orchestra.

This season the Miller Foundation will once again match, dollar-for-dollar, up to $2 million in new or increased contributions to the Symphony. We know that the opportunity to have our gifts doubled by the Miller Match is an incredible incentive to donors. We also know that the capacity exists in our community, but we must inspire an ever-widening circle of new donors to participate in the Miller Match. We need you!

You understand that the price of a ticket covers only 41% of our costs. That is why I am asking you to help us make up the remaining 59% by participating in the Miller Match.

My dream for the Oregon Symphony is to touch the heart and soul of every Oregonian. Last season we presented more than 110 concerts in the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall and another 400 education and community engagement activities across the state, serving more than 370,000 Oregonians overall. And tens of thousands more listen to Symphony concerts on our statewide radio network. Ticket sales for this season will finish ahead of last year; and the 06-07 subscription campaign is off to a great start, reflecting, in part, next season's great programs. Audiences have responded, excitement exists and the future will bring great results!
