Shengnan Li

Violin

Violinist Shengnan Li joins the Oregon Symphony in the fall of 2023. Born in Tianjin, China, Shengnan holds degrees from the New England Conservatory and The Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, where he studied with Nicholas Kitchen and Kathleen Winkler, respectively.

Shengnan is an avid musician in both orchestral and chamber music fields. Before joining the Oregon Symphony, he was a member of the Utah Symphony, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and the Des Moines Metro Opera, and he played with the Houston Symphony on many occasions as a substitute musician. He has worked intensively with the members of the Borromeo String Quartet, Brentano String Quartet, and Juilliard String Quartet. Additionally, he has participated in numerous summer festivals, including the Meadowmount School of Music, Music Academy of the West, Taos School of Music, Tanglewood Music Center, and Aspen Music Festival. Shengnan has won prizes in both national and international violin competitions, including the 2011 Hong Kong International Violin Competition and the 2011 Golden Bell Violin Competition of China. 

Apart from making music with his colleagues on stage, Shengnan is very excited to have more time to explore the beauty of Oregon with his wife, violinist Shanshan Zeng.
