Jinkx Monsoon
Overview

Monsoon is an extraordinary entertainer with an irresistible presence and wicked-but-welcoming sense of humor as shown throughout her decade-long career across theatre, film and television. A queer icon sings an early queer anthem
Serving vintage realness at her Carnegie Hall debut in February 2025, Jinkx Monsoon delivered Kurt Schwabach and Mischa Spoliansky's "The Lavender Song" like it was written yesterday. Considered one of the first LGBT anthems, the piece dates to 1920s Weimar-era Germany, a rare blip in history when queer folx were granted basic rights (yes, that happened for a hot minute). Jinkx called the performance an homage to “our queer ancestors and an urgent reminder that we won’t back down.”
