Prelude Performances
The Oregon Symphony Prelude Performance Series offers school and community ensembles the opportunity to perform in the mezzanine lobby of the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall prior to Oregon Symphony concerts. Our patrons look forward to these glimpses into community music prior to the concerts, and we invite you to be part of this program if your group is ready for this level of performance in the lobby setting. See below for information and to sign up for a Prelude slot!
-
The Prelude performance begins 30 minutes prior to the start of the Symphony concert.
-
The ensemble prepares a 20-minute set. We ask that performers choose repertoire that is in keeping with the tone of the concert which follows, when possible.
-
1 comp ticket is offered to each of the performers/teachers for the Symphony concert after their Prelude Performance. Additional seats for family members of Prelude performers can be purchased for $10/ticket.
-
Family members of performers may watch the Prelude performance, even if they are not staying for the Symphony concert. However, an integral part of this experience is the chance to attend the concert following.
-
Due to space and sound concerns in the mezzanine lobby, it is necessary to limit the size of participating groups. We can accommodate up to 20 instrumental performers and up to 30 vocal performers.
-
We supply chairs, stands and a display of your group’s name and program. We do not supply a keyboard for performances. However, there is an electric outlet available in the performance space (you must bring your own extension cord).
-
For those attending the concert after the Prelude, instruments can be stored in the House Manager’s office in the Lower Lobby.
-
Fill out all fields to the best of your current knowledge. We will follow up in the weeks prior to your Prelude performance to confirm final performer, chair, stand, and comp ticket numbers.
