About
2026/27 Prelude Performances
- The Prelude performance begins 30 minutes prior to the start of the Symphony concert.
- The ensemble prepares a 20-minute set. We ask that performers choose repertoire that is in keeping with the tone of the Oregon Symphony concert which follows, when possible. See specific information about each Oregon Symphony concert on our Concert Calendar.
- 1 comp ticket is offered to each of the performers/teachers for the Symphony concert after their Prelude Performance. Additional seats for family members of Prelude performers can be purchased for $10/ticket.
- Family members of performers may watch the Prelude performance, even if they are not staying for the Symphony concert. However, an integral part of this experience is the chance to attend the concert following.
- Due to space and sound concerns in the mezzanine lobby, it is necessary to limit the size of participating groups. We can accommodate up to 30 vocal performers and up to 20 instrumental performers – but only up to 5 brass instruments per group. No percussionists or percussion instruments are permitted, unless special permission is requested and granted (email educate@orsymphony.org). Certain percussion instruments (such as marimbas) may be acceptable with permission.
- We supply chairs, up to 20 music stands, and a display of your group’s name and program. We do not supply a keyboard for performances. However, there is an electric outlet available in the performance space (you must bring your own extension cord).
- For those attending the concert after the Prelude, instruments can be stored in the House Manager’s office in the Lower Lobby.
- To sign up for a Prelude Performance, click the “Sign Up for Preludes” button below. Fill out all fields to the best of your current knowledge. Due to the high volume of requests, we may not be able to accommodate all requests, and will respond on a first-come-first-served basis. If confirmed, your performance info will be emailed to you within 10 days of sign up. We will follow up in the weeks prior to your Prelude performance to confirm final performer, chair, stand, and comp ticket numbers. Contact educate@orsymphony.org with questions.
